By Amanda

Like the ocean, life is a beautiful force. One that can tear you limb from limb or lavish you in perfect moments.

Over the years, Michelle drifted on the tide of a long distance, on-again off-again relationship with Micah Roberts, a hot bass player in a popular rock band. When he finally asks her to move to Los Angeles to be with him, she risks everything, taking the leap into a new life.

Drowning in the wake of her decisions, she struggles just to breathe as destiny threatens to take everything. As unexpected events devastate her, will Michelle surface from the depths of despair?

Cover Reveal! My Perfect Imperfections by Jalpa Williby

My Perfect Imperfections by Jalpa Williby
**Coming Soon**

My name is Elizabeth Skye Cooper. Well, most people just call me Lily. I am eighteen years old, and I have Cerebral Palsy. What exactly is Cerebral Palsy? According to Webster, it is a disability resulting from damage to the brain before, during, or shortly after birth and outwardly manifested by muscular incoordination and speech disturbances.

Blah, blah, blah. I hate stupid definitions.

I’ll tell you what I know of Cerebral Palsy. It sucks. I can’t move my body the way I want to move it. I’m mostly confined to my wheelchair because I can’t walk without assistance. I can’t even feed myself because my arm is not able to bring the damn food to my mouth because of my inability to coordinate my muscles. I know what I want my arm to do, but it won’t cooperate no matter how hard I try. Didn’t I tell you it sucks?

But I’ve lived with it for eighteen years. And nobody understands my body more than I do. None of those doctors, none of those therapists, not even my family. And through the years, I’ve learned to make the most of it. I can actually drive my wheelchair and talk with my communication device.

It hasn’t been easy. No, it hasn’t been easy.

Let’s Talk ~ Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey is one talked about book due to the controversy and erotic relationship between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. On February 14th — Valentine’s Day — the highly anticipated movie will be premiered.

Although the book has received a huge amount of negative feedback that overshadows an equal abundance of positive reviews, it surprisingly has not stopped the growing hype of the motion picture that is scheduled for release this weekend and is already turning into a blockbuster. In fact, Fifty Shades is selling out all over the country and is expected to gross $60 million.

I read book one (spoiler alert), and although there was repetitious wording throughout the chapters, I was still drawn into finding out where things were headed for the main characters. In regards to Anastasia, I found her character to be a young woman seriously lacking self-esteem, confidence and doubted herself way too much. A trait that made her uncomfortable and unable to clearly communicate and verbalize her thoughts and feelings.

Then there is Christian Grey, the complete opposite of Anastasia. I have cons and pros about his character. Here are what I think his cons are: the way he managed his erotic lifestyle, his jealousy issues, his bossy tendencies and he’s a control freak. However, the more I read, I began to see that there was much more to the man than his faults, his debonair good looks, and wealth. This led to his top pros, which were his endless praise of Anastasia’s attributes and the way he would try to get her to see them as well. Also, where she thought she was clumsy and just a plain Jane, he saw her as beautiful, sexy and special, which he told her on countless occasions.

There’s not a lot of in-depth discussion on Christian’s past in the first book and because the details are vague, I got a yearning in wanting to find out more about what makes him the way he is. I clearly have a love-hate attitude toward Christian’s character. Where I disliked all his faults, he do have additional pros; there is a decent, caring side to his personality, and it’s during these short-lived intervals that I got a rare glimpse of his kindheartedness and sensitivity.

The book contained plenty erotic scenes, something I’m sure will tone down a bit for the movie. I will say the part that I found the most repetitive was their emails. I think it could have gone without so many “to’s” and “from’s” each and every time, but what I did find humor in was the way they would switch up the subject line and the salutation titles. I loved reading their electronic debates and found it to be quite entertaining and fun. In fact, using this mode of communication gave Anastasia a voice. It made her extremely proactive in speaking her mind, something she had difficulty in doing face to face with Christian. I feel they have an undeniable and complex relationship that you want to be fixed so that they can partake in a healthy union.

It was a interesting read, and I’m curious to see how much they put in the movie. I’m still up in the air on whether the correct actors were picked for the parts, but I guess I will find out soon. Will you go see the movie? Participate in the poll below.

I Rate the Book – 4 Stars

My Review:

Awakened: Tales of Erotic Discovery is a collection of nine erotic tales, written by different authors. I enjoyed the writing and thought it was good. For me, each story had its own unique appeal in regard to erotic writing style. Some subtle with lite BDSM, and others that offered a distinctive emotional quality. All in all, if you’re looking for hot and steamy, this anthology is a good read.

I rate it 5 stars.

The Boys Club Tour ~ Author, Angie Martin

I would like to welcome Angie Martin. Today she stops here on the last day of  her blog tour for The Boys Club.

The Boys Club Large

Amazon        Goodreads
Growing up a homeless juvenile delinquent left its mark on Gabriel Logan. He lived a throwaway existence until a former FBI agent recruited him for a fringe organization for boys like him, ones who could operate outside the law for the sake of justice. As an adult, he sets an example for the others and is slated to take over their group, until his work results in the murder of his pregnant wife.

Going through the motions of everyday life, Logan does only what’s required of him with one goal in mind: kill Hugh Langston, the man responsible for his wife’s death. When he’s handed the opportunity to bring Langston down, he jumps at the chance, but the job will challenge him more than anything in the past. Not only does he have to save Langston’s daughter from her father’s hit list, but the job seems to have come to them a little too easily. Logan must find a way to not only rescue the one woman who can take down his biggest enemy, but also look into the men he trusts most to discover which one of them is betraying The Boys Club.

Author Bio:
I am a lifelong writer and firmly believe that words flow through my veins. The Boys Club, a romantic suspense novel, was released on December 3, 2014. My thriller with a paranormal twist, Conduit, was published on March 5, 2014. In 2004, I published my first romantic suspense novel, False Security. Since that time, the book has been drastically re-written and the revised version is also available as an e-book for Kindle. I am hard at work on three books: the sequel to False Security (False Hope), the next Emily Monroe novel, aptly titled The Darkness, and a super-secret project that will be announced hopefully in the spring.

I live in Overland Park, Kansas with my husband, our two beautiful cats, and our beloved dog. I have two sons who are off paving their own way in the world. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, my hometown and where my books take place, and I will always be a Kansas girl at heart.

As a reader first, writer second, I love to discover new authors. My entire life has revolved around imaginary worlds contained within the covers of a book. My aunt introduced me to Stephen King and a little book called Christine in eighth grade, and my life was never the same. As a geek-extraordinaire, I love comics and graphic novels, and also review those, both on my own and as a guest contributor with Fanboy Comics.

I have studied criminal justice and behavior since high school, which I incorporate into my writing. If writing is my blood, then music is the air in my lungs. I have played piano since I was five and I love writing music. I am also hard-core gamer. My go-to video games series are Resident Evil, Uncharted, The Walking Dead (Telltale Games), Dead Space, and Batman Arkham.

World Odyssey (The World Duology Book 1) by Lance Morcan and James Morcan

My Review:

“Word Odyssey” peaked my curiosity; it travels back to when the characters—Nathan Johnson, Susanna Drake and Jack Halliday—were youths and how their paths came to cross as they reached adulthood.

The story is historic fiction that occurs in the 19th century. The whole storyline was well-written and the set-up was descriptive which made it very easy to visualize the scenes in my head.  The book is filled with abundant scenarios of Indians, being at sea, the daily trial and errors of earning a living and trying to keep a roof over ones head, with even a little bit of romance thrown in too.

In their own way, each character has a special uniqueness; and in reading this sequel, I gained a better understanding to each of their persona.  In one way or another, each experienced some type of hardship that helped to individual mold him/her into the person that they portray in another book of the series, “Fiji: A Novel”, which I read prior to this one.  There is one thing I did find surprising in the entire book was Nathan’s background. After reading this I saw that his relationship with his father played a  key role and could have majorly changed the overall direction of Nathan’s life and the path he followed.

Overall “World Odyssey” was a good book to cuddle up with and read.

I rate it – 4 Stars
